The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts

Page history last edited by John 2 yrs ago

Architect:

Tadao Ando

Completion:

2001

Description:

More of a place of contemplation and meditation than a museum, the Pulitzer Foundation of the Arts attempts to reinvigorate a downtown area of St. Louis, along with its neighbor the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (CAMSTL).

Ando designed a small and intimate building, working around two site-specific artworks, one by Ellsworth Kelly (inside) and one by Richard Serra (outside). A series of parallel concrete walls defines the composition, which shares a courtyard with CAMSTL.
