Telus Centre for Performance and Learning

Page history last edited by Steven 3 wks ago

Architect:

Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg Architects (KPMB)

Completion:

2009

Description:

The Telus Centre is a new performance hall for the Royal Conservatory of Music completed in September of 2009. Its small streetfront only hints at the three performance spaces inside, including the 1,100-seat Koerner Concert Hall. The construction company reports that the concert hall is a "floating structure having no fixed connection to the structures below or beside it." The angular composition of glass, steel and dark stone contrast markedly with the historically designated, neo-romanesque building it is attached to on the east.
