Description:

Perspectives Charter School was started by two Chicago Public School teachers in 1993, using the small-school model for its operations. The school's new facilities fit a triangular site, with the entrance located on the western end. The eastern tip is the project's most visible and striking area: a projected roof with climbing trellis and double-height windows.

Materials are economical, predominantly corrugated metal siding with small ribbon windows. The dynamic design stands out in an area full of brick and stone townhouses and Bertrand Goldberg's looming Hilliard Homes.
