Architect:
Shim-Sutcliffe Architects
Completion:
1998
Description:
Ledbury Park is a great lesson in urban design and responding to context. Providing an outdoor pool, locker rooms, an indoor multi-function space, and an outdoor rink, the brick pavilion is a pleasing addition to the residential neighborhood.
Beyond that, the architects provide a bridge over the skating rink to allow access across the park. This simple gesture does a lot to bring people into the fold without necessarily participating. It make the part a collective experience for all.
